But underneath the career moves was a much more personal search: identity, belonging, family, purpose—and eventually, the realization that achievement alone doesn’t necessarily tell you who you are.

Today, Lillian is a Peak Performance Coach and founder of Awesomeness Lifestyle, helping people better understand themselves, their strengths, and how to create lives that actually align with who they are.

And in an age obsessed with artificial intelligence, optimization, credentials, and giving children every possible advantage, one thing she said during our conversation stood out above everything else:

“Don’t give your kids the material things you didn’t have. Give your kids the wisdom that you didn’t have.”

That might be one of the most important parenting—and leadership—lessons of the AI era.

When Achievement Isn’t the Same as Alignment

A person can be hardworking, ambitious, accomplished, and still be moving in the wrong direction.

Lillian’s story is a reminder that drive and alignment are not the same thing.

You can become exceptionally good at surviving.

You can learn to negotiate.

You can learn business development.

You can become a strong dealmaker.

You can figure out how to enter rooms that once seemed inaccessible.

But eventually, there is a deeper question:

Is the life I am building actually mine?

Many adults don’t start asking that question until decades after they have been rewarded for doing what everyone else expected of them.

That is why self-knowledge may become more valuable—not less valuable—as AI gets better.

AI Can Give Your Child Information. It Can’t Give Them Identity.

Parents have historically tried to give their children what they themselves lacked.

Maybe that meant a better neighborhood.

A better school.

More toys.

Tutors.

Technology.

College tuition.

A nicer car.

A larger home.

There is nothing inherently wrong

What if Finding Nemo happened in reverse?
