class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of simply buying his son the thing he wanted\u2014or shutting the idea down because it cost money\u2014Neeraj used that motivation to teach him something far more valuable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to create the money himself.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In my conversation with Neeraj on <strong>Legacy Launchers<\/strong>, one of the stories that stayed with me most was how he helped his son turn his interest in an e-bike into his first real lesson in entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His son made roughly <strong>$200 selling trading cards.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the money wasn&#8217;t really the point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point was learning that wanting something doesn&#8217;t always have to end with asking someone else to provide it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes it can become the beginning of a business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Better Answer Than \u201cNo\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kids ask for things constantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A new phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The easiest parental responses are usually:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">or:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neeraj found a third option:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cHow could you earn it?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That one question changes the entire experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now the child has to think about value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What do I have?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What might someone else want?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What could I sell?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How much should I charge?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where do I find a buyer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What happens if nobody buys?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those are entrepreneurship questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And his son began answering them through something he already understood: <strong>trading cards.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start With What You Already Have<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a misconception that starting a business requires a giant idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A business plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An LLC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pitch deck containing at least three unnecessary graphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It doesn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes entrepreneurship starts with looking around your bedroom and asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat do I already have that someone else values?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Neeraj&#8217;s son, the answer was trading cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He already understood the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He knew which cards were interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He understood the culture surrounding them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And there were buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s a legitimate market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It might not look like Silicon Valley entrepreneurship, but the fundamentals are exactly the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Asset + buyer + transaction = business.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The $200 Matters Because He Earned It<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two hundred dollars means something different when you&#8217;re 13 and you generated it yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s where this lesson becomes powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When money simply appears, it&#8217;s easy to think about money as something adults possess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you earn it, money becomes connected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>effort, judgment, value and opportunity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You begin understanding that $200 isn&#8217;t simply a number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It represents transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People deciding your product was worth paying for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That realization can change how a young person thinks about money for the rest of their life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Motivation Is Better Than Lecturing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I liked about Neeraj&#8217;s approach is that he didn&#8217;t begin with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cToday we&#8217;re going to learn entrepreneurship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing makes a 13-year-old more excited than an unsolicited seminar on cash flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, the lesson started with something his son <strong>already wanted.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The e-bike created motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then entrepreneurship became the bridge between where he was and what he wanted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s incredibly effective teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adults work the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We tend to learn fastest when the lesson solves a problem we genuinely care about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entrepreneurship Is Really Problem-Solving<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the reasons I think entrepreneurship should be taught earlier is because it isn&#8217;t primarily about becoming a CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s about learning to solve problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Want something you can&#8217;t afford?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find a way to create value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have something someone else wants?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find the buyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody is interested?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Change your offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something isn&#8217;t selling?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Figure out why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those lessons apply whether someone eventually becomes an entrepreneur, engineer, employee, artist or executive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They teach agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of assuming the world simply hands you opportunities, you start asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat can I create from what I already have?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parents Can Teach This Without Giving Their Kids a Business Lecture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t need to build a miniature MBA program in your kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lesson can be surprisingly simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your child wants something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of immediately purchasing it, ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What could you sell?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What service could you provide?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What skill could you use?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who might pay for it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That could mean:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selling collectibles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Washing cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pet sitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tutoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designing something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reselling an item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Helping a neighbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Making something online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The specific business almost doesn&#8217;t matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What matters is experiencing the cycle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Want \u2192 Idea \u2192 Action \u2192 Value \u2192 Money.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once someone understands that cycle, they start viewing opportunities differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Bigger Lesson: Don&#8217;t Remove Every Struggle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parents naturally want to make life easier for their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But sometimes removing every obstacle also removes the lesson hidden inside the obstacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Neeraj had immediately purchased the e-bike, his son would have gotten an e-bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, he helped his son gain something potentially much more valuable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>evidence that he could make money himself.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That confidence compounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today it&#8217;s trading cards and $200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow it could be a side hustle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eventually it could be a company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first transaction is often psychologically more important than the thousandth one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the first one proves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Someone will actually pay me for something I create or sell.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entrepreneurship Before You&#8217;re Old Enough to Drive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We spend years teaching children how to prepare for jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get good grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get into school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Build a r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get hired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those are valuable skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is another question worth teaching:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What happens if instead of waiting for someone to give you an opportunity, you create one?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That doesn&#8217;t mean every child needs to become an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It means every child should understand that entrepreneurship is an option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neeraj gave his son that lesson through something wonderfully ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A kid wanted an e-bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
